We’ve shared glimpses of Flamery’s journey—from behind-the-scenes photography to becoming part of Made in Britain—but now, let’s take you back even further. Back to when Flamery was nothing more than an idea, a spark waiting to catch.

From Metalwork to Fire Cooking: The Unexpected but Inevitable Journey

On the surface, our path to launching Flamery might seem unexpected. But for us, it just makes sense.

Our Roots: Rack Systems Heritage

Flamery is part of the Rack Systems family—a name you probably haven’t heard, but one you’ve almost certainly encountered. Rack is a family-run British business that has spent the last 30 years designing and manufacturing OEM office furniture components used by some of the biggest names in business, as well as universities and schools across the UK (and beyond). If you work at a desk, chances are you’ve used one of our products—because we’re the people who make the bit between the floor and the desktop. Desk legs… sounds boring, we know!

For over three decades, we’ve been crafting durable, high-quality metal components. That foundation—our deep understanding of fabrication and design—laid the groundwork for something entirely new.

The Spark: A Love for Wood-Fired Cooking

For Richard Field, Managing Director of Rack Systems, fire cooking has always been a passion. Over the years, with access to in-house design and engineering, he and the team experimented with building grills, BBQs, and rotisseries—just for personal use.

But in 2023, something changed. Richard set out to design and manufacture the perfect Asado-style Argentinian grill for his own back garden. What started as another passion project soon became something much bigger.

The Creative Drive: Jonathan Clark Joins the Fire

Enter Jonathan Clark, a designer at Rack with a knack for spotting opportunities. Having already led the successful launch of Shelved—a modular storage brand born from a product Rack’s initially designed for the commercial setting—Jonathan saw the potential for something new.

With Shelved, Rack stepped outside the OEM market for the first time, selling directly to the domestic market. With that experience, combined design expertise, Jonathan saw Richard’s passion project as more than just a one-off project—it was a brand waiting to be born.

Designing the Flamery Grills

Moving from office furniture to asado grills wasn’t a small leap. It took weeks of research, countless design meetings, and hundreds of iterations before we were finally ready to start prototyping and testing. Every detail—from heat control to materials, from grilling surfaces to durability—was carefully considered, refined, and perfected.

Prototyping and Testing

This was the exciting part. With a comprehensively equipped, 60,000 sq ft factory behind us, we had all the tools we needed. State-of-the-art machinery, skilled craftsmen, and decades of engineering experience—the only challenge was squeezing grill parts between assembly lines full of office furniture.

After multiple prototypes, testing sessions, and refinements, we finally had it: a grill that merged traditional Asado cooking with modern British craftsmanship.

Designed for Fire Cooking, Built to Last

Every Flamery grill is crafted with durability, versatility, and performance in mind. Manufactured in our North Yorkshire facility, each grill is built to withstand the elements and deliver an unmatched wood-fired cooking experience.

Key features like:

  • Adjustable cooking surfaces for total control over heat and flame.
  • Integrated fireboxes to fuel the perfect wood-fired cook.
  • Innovative lids and accessories for smoking, roasting, searing, and baking.

Every element is designed to bring the full depth of wood-fired flavour to your cooking, no matter the season.

From Spark to Flame

What started as a passion project has become a brand dedicated to the art of fire cooking. Inspired by Argentinian Asado traditions, engineered with British precision, and built for those who appreciate the ritual of cooking over fire—Flamery is more than just a grill.

It’s about gathering, slowing down, and making food an experience.

It’s about embracing the elements, cooking with fire, and creating something unforgettable.

Welcome to Flamery.
