How do I cook on a Flamery Grill?

Cooking on a Flamery grill is an adventure in flavor and technique, where mastering the art of cooking over embers takes center stage. Here's your guide to grilling greatness:

  1. Prepare your grill: Start by building a fire both in the firebox, to create a steady supply of embers whilst cooking, and in the base of the grill to get things started. Spread the embers to create a consistent heat for your cooking journey, moving them into larger piles for higher temperatures. You can top up the firebox with logs and charcoal as needed to generate more embers as you cook.
  2. Control the heat: Use the winch system to adjust the height of the grill grate above the embers. Lower the grate for intense heat and raise it for a more gentle cooking experience. This precise control allows you to tailor the heat to your culinary desires.
  3. Cooking techniques: Explore a variety of cooking techniques, from direct grilling for perfect sears to indirect grilling for slow, tender results. Experiment with using the grill lid to create an oven-like environment, perfect for baking, roasting, or smoking your favorite dishes.
  4. Keep watch over your food: Stay attentive to your food as it cooks, adjusting the placement and rotation of your ingredients as needed to achieve even cooking. A meat thermometer can be your ally in ensuring meats are cooked to perfection.
  5. Indulge in the flavors: Once your culinary creations are ready, savor the mouthwatering flavors and aromas that only a Flamery grill can deliver. Whether it's succulent meats, crispy vegetables, or perfectly charred pizzas, every bite is a celebration of outdoor cooking at its finest.
What should I do with the grill after cooking?

After your culinary adventures on your Flamery grill, it's essential to follow these steps for proper maintenance and care:

  1. Allow the grill to cool naturally: After cooking, let your Flamery grill cool down naturally. Do not attempt to move or clean the grill while it's still hot to avoid the risk of injury.
  2. Do not remove ash until cold: Once the grill has cooled completely, you can safely remove the ash. It's important to wait until the ash is cold to prevent any accidental fires or injuries. Please dispose of ash responsibly.
  3. Cleaning the stainless steel cooking surfaces: The stainless steel cooking surfaces such as the v-groove grills or firebox grill on your Flamery grill, are designed for easy cleaning. Simply remove the cooking surfaces from the grill and wash them with warm, soapy water. Use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth to remove any food residue, then rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reassembling.
  4. Blackening of the steel is normal: Over time, you may notice that the stainless steel cooking surfaces of your Flamery grill develop a blackened patina. This is a normal part of the seasoning process and does not affect the performance or safety of your grill. Embrace the character and charm of your well-loved grill as it ages gracefully with each grilling session.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your Flamery grill remains in top condition, ready to deliver delicious grilled dishes for many years to come.

Konro Grill Products

Below are some common questions about our table top Konro grill products

What makes the KONRO PRO.5.4 ideal for professional chefs and serious home cooks?

The KONRO PRO.5.4 is designed for precision and versatility in live-fire cooking. Its modular design includes a removable stainless steel grill and a 5mm plancha plate, allowing seamless transitions between open-flame grilling and solid-surface cooking. The 25mm vermiculite-lined firebox ensures exceptional heat retention, while the dual adjustable air vents provide precise airflow control, enabling chefs to fine-tune cooking temperatures for various ingredients.

What materials are used in the KONRO PRO.5.4, and how do they contribute to its performance?

The grill features a robust 304 stainless steel inner body, known for its durability and resistance to corrosion. This is lined with 25mm vermiculite panels to retain as much heat in the grill as possible.

The outer shell is powder-coated mild steel, providing additional protection and a sleek appearance. The combination of these materials ensures the grill withstands high temperatures and frequent use, making it suitable for both commercial kitchens and outdoor settings.

Is it normal for the vermiculite lining to develop small cracks over time?

Absolutely. The Flamery Konro PRO.5.4 tabletop grill is built with a rugged 25mm pressed vermiculite board lining engineered for extreme heat. As the grill heats up and cools down, the vermiculite naturally expands and contracts, which can result in tiny hairline cracks appearing in the lining over time. Rest assured, these minor cracks are purely cosmetic – they won’t affect your grill’s performance, heat retention, or safety. The vermiculite material was chosen for its exceptional durability and insulation, so even with a few small cracks it continues to do its job effectively.

In short, a cracked vermiculite liner is a normal part of the grill’s lifespan and does not compromise the effectiveness or safe operation of your Flamery Konro PRO.5.4.

How should I clean and maintain the KONRO PRO.5.4 to ensure its longevity?

After each use, allow the grill to cool completely. Remove the stainless steel grill and plancha plate for cleaning; these components can be washed with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive tools that could damage the finish. Regular maintenance includes emptying ash from the firebox and checking for any buildup that could affect airflow.

Why does the stainless steel grill on my KONRO PRO.5.4 bend or dip during use?

Great question - and totally normal. The cooking surface of the KONRO PRO.5.4 is crafted from precision laser-cut and laser-welded stainless steel, combining a solid 5mm outer frame with a finer 1.2mm grill mesh. When exposed to high, direct heat (as with all live-fire setups), the thinner internal mesh may expand slightly, causing a temporary dip or gentle warping in the grill surface.

This is simply a result of thermal expansion — and it’s expected behaviour for stainless steel in this application. Once the grill cools, it will naturally return to a flat state. It won’t affect your cooking performance or the structural integrity of the grill.

In short: a little flex under fire is all part of the design — and your Konro is built to handle it.

What safety precautions should I take when using the KONRO PRO.5.4 during service?

Ensure the grill is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface with adequate ventilation. The 20mm air gap on all sides and underneath the grill helps dissipate heat, keeping external surfaces cooler and reducing the risk of burns. Always use heat-resistant gloves when handling hot components, and never leave the grill unattended while in use.

How should I store the KONRO PRO.5.4 when it's not in use?

Store the grill in a dry, sheltered area to protect it from the elements. The KONRO PRO.5.4 comes with a waterproof cover, which should be used to shield the grill from moisture and debris. Before storage, ensure all components are clean and dry to prevent corrosion and maintain optimal performance.

What are some best practices for achieving optimal heat control with the KONRO PRO.5.4?

Start by selecting high-quality charcoal, such as Whittlebricks by Whittle & Flame, which provide a clean, consistent burn. Use the dual adjustable air vents to control airflow and regulate temperature: opening the vents increases heat for searing, while closing them lowers the temperature for slow cooking. The modular design allows for the use of the plancha plate or wire grill, enabling chefs to adapt the cooking surface to different ingredients and techniques.

Are Konro Pro grills easy to assemble?

Yes, the grills are delivered fully assembled and just need unpacking.
